When you are migrating your system to SAS 9.2, if you select the SAS Migration Utility Package Directory in the SAS^® Deployment Wizard, this error might occur:

When you check the metadatasrv_gendefaults_date_time.log file, you might see the following error:

BUILD FAILED
C:\SAS Software Depot\product_data\metadatasrv__92210__win__xx__sp0__1\configure\
metadatasrv_gendefaults.xml:49: org.apache.bsf.BSFException: The application script threw an exception:
java.util.regex.PatternSyntaxException: Illegal repetition near index 2

Other log files provide additional clues. Look for this warning in the migrate.log file:

Inspect the metadatasrv folder where you created your package. If you find only an Execute.xml file, do the following:

1. Check to see whether you have a SASBackup directory under your Lev1 directory. For example, see whether you have this directory structure: C:\SAS\EBIserver\Lev1\SASBackup

   If you do, temporarily copy the backup file to another location or rename the omaconfig.xml file in the SASBackup directory to omaconfig_backup.xml.

   Such errors can occur when backup and configuration directories exist in the same directory structure.

2. Create a new SAS Migration Utility Package.
3. Run the installation again and point to the new SAS Migration Utility Package.

In this case, the error occurs because when the SAS Migration Utility initializes, it reads the omaconfig.xml file from the SASBackup directory first. It does this instead of reading the omaconfig.xml file from the SAS\configdir\Lev1\SASMain directory. For example:
